To steal appropriate video from Youtube use the following browser tricks:

Option #1 Change YouTube to ssyoutube. Example: youtube.com/watch?v=kqDGjDzew_0 ->
ssyoutube.com/watch?v=kqDGjDzew_0

Option #2 Change YouTube to youpak: youtube.com/watch?v=kqDGjDzew_0 ->
youpak.com/watch?v=kqDGjDzew_0

To create a GIF from Youtube by changing youtube.com to giftube.com:

Example: youtube.com/watch?v=v1WZ5pO2s4E -> gifyoutube.com/watch?v=v1WZ5pO2s4E

Youtube and other sites like Archive.org:

If your browser open the video in a new tab, simply go file -> save to save the video file to your hard drive.  Double check that it is actually just a video file opened (file has .mp4 extension instead of .html)
